In jazz the melody is often referred to as the "Head" so this section will study the actual melody of a song as a jazz guitarist would play it while adding some chords to it. Typically a chord melody is played in a trio setting with bass and drums so the guitarist has to play the chords as well as the melody. A Jazz Head is more of a single note melody to be played with a larger combo so someone else is playing the chords.So a single note melody is considered a Jazz Head then by adding some chords it becomes a Chord Melody. Some of these chord melody arrangements can easily be converted to fingerstyle arrangements by simply adding some bass notes or a bass line. The video will demonstrate slowly and up close the positions where Rich likes to play the melody line and he'll rehearse each phrase with you to help you master the tune.
